To complete this setup, you’ll need access to the Lightspeed back office to:
Create a web extension
Set up a payment method
Add a button to the POS menu used by your team
Before you start
Log in to the Glu admin area and navigate to the Lightspeed integration settings page. Keep this open while you access the Lightspeed back office in a separate tab.
Alternatively our team can make all the changes needed for you if you're happy to add us to your backoffice as a user.
📚 Note: Our team can complete this setup for you. If you’re happy to grant access, create a back office user using:
Email: [email protected]
Permissions: “Settings and configuration”
1. Create the web extension
In the Lightspeed back office:
Go to Operations → Web extensions
View existing extensions or create a new one
Copy the fields from the Glu settings page into the Lightspeed web extension.
Do not specify any loading domains
Ensure “Add a JavaScript context to the page” is enabled
🚨 This step is critical for the integration to function correctly.
2. Set up the payment method
To allow Glu and Lightspeed to recognise when gift cards, member credit, or other stored value is used, you’ll need to create a dedicated payment method.
In the Lightspeed back office:
Go to Payments → Payment methods
Create a new payment method
Copy the fields from the Glu settings page into the payment method settings.
No additional configuration checkboxes need to be selected
Hide the payment method from POS
The payment method should not be visible to staff directly - it will be triggered via the web extension.
To hide it:
Go to POS → Configurations
Select your configuration
Navigate to the Payments section
Ensure the Glu payment method is unchecked
3. Add the button to the POS menu
Finally, add a button to your POS menu so your team can access Glu for redemption.
In the Lightspeed back office:
Go to Menu → Menu management
Select the menu you want to update
Click Add button (top right)
Choose Web extension
Select the Glu extension
You can then customise the button’s:
Label
Colour
Position
Place it wherever makes the most sense for your team’s workflow.
4. Testing
Before going live, we recommend testing the integration.
The easiest way to do this is to issue complimentary gift cards and run through the full redemption flow at the POS.
